Back Pain

Back Pain Treatment with our Omaha Chiropractor

If someone says they are experiencing back pain in Omaha, it can mean a lot of different things. While lower back pain is among the most common reasons why people go to see a chiropractor it is only representative of a small part of the service we can provide at Faimon Chiropractic.

In addition to lower back pain, our patients also come in complaining of pain in their upper and middle areas of the back, and in order to effectively treat them it is important to look at each patient individually in order to determine what is most likely causing their pain, and do our best to correct it.

Lower Back Pain in Omaha

The lower back gets some of the most pain complaints in comparison to the other parts of the back. This is largely because we count on our lower backs to do a lot and provide a good deal of support. It is also known as the lumbar spine, and various bones, joints, nerves, ligaments and muscles are called on to work together to support our weight and activities. If one or more of these players fall out of line, it can result in lower back pain. Unfortunately, there are a lot of ways that can happen, including

  • Posture problems
  • Excess Weight
  • Improper Exercise Habits
  • Falls
  • Car Accidents
  • Aging
  • and more

How Low Back Pain Feels

Low pain obviously hurts, however, how it hurts can make a big difference to how the pain will be treated. It is important to pay attention to whether the pain feels dull and achy, whether it is sharp or stinging and radiating into other areas, or is felt as spasms or tightness. Low back pain may also feel better or worse depending on your physical position, such as whether you or sitting or stand or whether you are moving or holding still.

Upper and Middle Back Pain in Omaha

Upper and middle back pain is felt somewhere between the base of your rib cage to the bottom of your neck. This area is also called the thoracic spine and is made up of twelve vertebrae and several discs that act as shock absorbers for these vertebrae as you move. In the mix, there are also many muscles and ligaments tasked with keeping everything together.

You might experience pain in your upper or middle back for many different reasons including

  • Overuse
  • Posture Issues
  • Spinal Pressure
  • Fractured Vertebrae
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Myofascial Pain that is affecting nearby muscles or tissues
  • Other medical issues with gallbladder, infections, or cancer

Symptoms of Thoracic Spine Pain in Omaha

The most common symptoms of thoracic spine pain are dull, burning, or sharp pain and muscle tightness. Other symptoms may emerge as well and may be a sign of a more serious issue. If you are experiencing weakness, numbness, or incontinence along with your back pain you should be tested for other health problems as well.
